Still have questions about what to wear or how to get ready for your shoot? Reach out! I’m happy to assist with what I think will look good in my camera. I hope to post some links here soon to some Pinterest boards that go more in depth about photo shoot style for families, seniors, etc.
Wardrobe Changes: I do allow for wardrobe changes. However, as my session fees are by the half hour or hour, changing comes out of your time. Usually the only folks who have more than one outfit are newborns, seniors, or those interested in serious professional headshots. If you aren’t sure what you like, the easiest thing to do is to add a layer – jacket, vest, scarf, cardigan, flannel – something easy to pop on and off depending on how things are going and the mood strikes.
Please be aware: There are things that I cannot or will not photoshop when it comes to wardrobe and looks and that is anything that can be changed by you, the client. If you come with a lint covered sweater and wrinkly pants, they will be lint covered and wrinkly in your pictures. If you are worried about frizzy hair, put products in to smooth it down as there’s only so much I can tackle in photoshop without having to charge you an additional editing fee (a few stray hairs from wind is different than a halo of frizz). If you don’t like your spouse’s facial hair, you need to come to an agreement before hand about to shave or not to shave because I cannot edit off his experimental mustache.
When it comes to adult faces, I cannot add a full face of make-up on you in photoshop. While it is totally OK if you wear zero makeup (raising my hand in solidarity 99% of the time!), be aware of what you’re wearing and where we’re shooting. If it’s a casual family shoot at the park in jeans, you’re fine just as you are. If we’re doing an engagement shoot or going for a professional headshot, i totally agree with the fact that you are fine just as you are here too, but please consider a little bit of makeup at the very least. Mascara is magical, chapstick or lip gloss are amazing, a brush of powder to combat shine does wonders. It’s just another tool to help you achieve the level of polish you’d like to have in some kinds of photos. If you’d like to up your glam level, I can help you with finding a professional make up artist to hire.
Any close ups (especially professional headshots) will be gone over with a fine tooth comb in photoshop to fix any little blemishes, scars, stray eyebrow hairs, or what have you. See the before and after here – notice how the overall photoshop job is actually quite subtle but just makes the subject look perfect and pop against his background while still looking fully like himself.
