Peak blooms will be March 22-25th!!
PS – do NOT ask me to do pics at the Tidal Basin. Been there, done that, It was gorgeous and everyone should go see the sunrise during cherry blossom peak at the tidal basin. One of those DC things if you live here you have to put on your bucket list. But the insanity to try and take pics there is not worth how much i’m going to charge you in inconvience fees. HOWEVER, there are some secret (and not so secret) blossom spots in MoCo that I will shoot at if that’s your jam. Preferably at the crack of dawn or early morning on a weekday because it’s pretty and empty. I also know where in MoCo the other kind of cherry trees are that bloom about two weeks after the Tidal Basin.
Really, what all this means is that SPRING WILL BE SPRUNG SOON! Thank goodness, right? When the whole world feels like it’s going to hell in a handbasket we have this too look forward to.

(gratuitous pictures of my children for the algorithm – back when they liked each other in the Kenwood neighborhood of Bethesda – a favorite spot to meet friends for a post-work picnic dinner under the blossoms)
Once the blossoms hit we can take a deep breath and know that the weather is not likely to really mess up plans (except for rain) and the landscape starts looking a lot less bleak. Even without leaves on the trees we’ll have green grass, forsythia, daffodills, then tulips, magnolias, those other flowers on bushes – pink, white, purples – totally drawing a blank on what they’re called…not rhodadendrons…anyway, trees won’t be at max leaf till mid may unless it’s warm out the rest of march then it may be on the early side of mid may. Roses start popping out in may too! Everything starts looking lush for a couple of weeks and then by mid June it’ll be too hot to shoot at anytime but the crack of dawn or sunset. We have to enjoy it while it lasts!
If you’re interested in scheduling a family shoot this spring, shoot me an email or reach out on my Contact Page. I know there’s a few of you already and I’ll be reaching out in the next week or so to get you on my calendar!
